Sarah Cooke

Sarah Cooke is the Operations Manager for Bolder Advocacy. In this role, she manages the public webinar and on-demand webinar programs, provides support for BA’s portfolio of grants and contracts, and helps coordinate workshops and technical assistance. She joined Alliance for Justice in 2023 as the incoming Foundation Relations Manager and served as Senior Foundation Relations Manager until August 2026.

Prior to AFJ, she worked at Studio Theatre in Washington, DC, for nearly six years, overseeing foundation and government giving. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she also worked as a freelance reporter for DCist, Eater DC, and Washington City Paper, writing about food culture and DC’s restaurant industry.

She graduated magna cum laude from Brown University, where she holds B.A. in English Literature (with honors in Nonfiction Writing). Her thesis about trauma narratives was nominated by the English-Nonfiction Department for Distinguished Senior Thesis Prize.

Sarah has lived in Washington, DC for most of her life and looks forward to when the city becomes a state. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and eating food from around the world, learning languages, and spending as much time as possible (it’s a lot) with her cat Aoife.
