On May 13, 2026, the Texas Ethics Commission adjusted the expenditure and compensation/reimbursement thresholds that trigger lobbyist registration and reporting in Texas. Under the new thresholds, an individual must register as a lobbyist after making expenditures of more than $650 during a calendar quarter. The compensation and reimbursement threshold also decreased to $1,200 per calendar quarter. The new thresholds will no longer be adjusted annually.
