Biography
Joshua D. Dunlap graduated from Notre Dame Law School in 2008 and Pensacola Christian College in 2005.
Legal Experience
Dunlap works at Pierce Atwood LLP (2009 – Present). He is currently a partner in the litigation group (Jan. 2018 – Present) after previously serving as a litigation associate (Sept. 2009 – Dec. 2017). He was a judicial law clerk, for Judge Paul Kelly Jr. at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit (Sept. 2008 – Sept. 2009) and a summer associate (May 2007 – Aug. 2007). He was also a legal intern at Alliance Defending Freedom (Summer 2006). Other notable facts, include:
- Defended multiple banks in consumer class actions related to overdraft fees.
- Defended a financial institution in a consumer class action related to student financial aid accounts.
- Defended big pharmaceutical companies in lawsuits concerning deceptive practices related to their prescription opioid drugs.
- Represented an industry group of automobile manufacturers in an “right to repair” lawsuit against Maine’s law requiring open access to vehicle data.
- Represented a cable tv company in a suit challenging the constitutionality of Maine’s consumers’ right to demand pro rata fees
- Represented conservative organizations and corporations in challenges to Maine’s campaign finance regulations.
- Represented Republicans in an unsuccessful attempt to block Maine’s ranked choice voting system.
- Defended energy companies a lawsuit concerning misleading and deceptive greenwashing campaigns.
