Biography
Ballou attended the University of Kentucky, where he received his B.A. in political science in 1995. He received his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1998.
Legal Experience
After graduating from law school, Ballou clerked for Judge Eugene Siler Jr. on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Following his clerkship, Ballou briefly entered private practice in Williamsburg, Kentucky before being elected as a Kentucky state district court judge in 2002. He served as a district court judge from 2003 to 2006. In 2006, Ballou was elected as a Kentucky state circuit court judge, a role in which he currently serves. Ballou unsuccessfully ran for a seat on the Supreme Court of Kentucky in 2018.
