WASHINGTON, D.C., December 13  – Following the Senate vote to confirm Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Willett to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“Today’s confirmation of Don Willett to the Fifth Circuit is especially troubling given Willett’s record on women’s rights. At a time when the national spotlight is on very real challenges faced by women in the workplace, Willett’s views belong to another century. He has disparaged women’s concerns about sexual harassment and ruled to weaken laws that protect women against discrimination, harassment, and assault. Not only that, he has taken aggressive stances against the rights of workers, consumers, and LGBTQ individuals. His confirmation will put at risk the rights and protections of millions of people who reside in the Fifth Circuit.”
