This excerpt is from a piece that originally ran on July 23, 2025.
Bluestone is an appellate chief and violent crimes prosecutor in the U.S. attorney’s office in St. Louis. Bluestone is a former deputy solicitor general of Missouri who served under then-Missouri Solicitor General D. John Sauer who went on to represent President Donald Trump and then become his solicitor general. Bluestone graduated from Harvard Law School in 2016.
In July 2018, he signed onto a letter from former Harvard Law students who had U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh as a professor to support the justice’s confirmation. The progressive legal group Alliance for Justice flagged this in a fact-sheet opposing Bluestone’s confirmation.
