On August 18, 2026, President Trump nominated Robert (Bobby) Long to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. 

Biography 

Long received a B.S. in Finance from the Florida State University in 2003. He received his J.D. from the University of Florida, College of Law in 2008.

Legal Experience

Prior to law school, Long worked as a law enforcement officer at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. After law school, Long worked as an active-duty Judge Advocate with the United States Navy. He went on to work in private practice at a statewide law firm, where he worked on civil litigation matters. Long then worked as general counsel and a major on the executive command staff at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 26, 2016, Long was appointed by Governor Rick Scott to serve as a trial court judge on Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit Court. He continued in that position until he was appointed to the First District Court of Appeal on June 10, 2020, by Governor Ron DeSantis.
