Reminder: Nonprofits Can Advocate for Impeachment

Following the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol, there are calls for impeachment of President Trump. Despite having less than two weeks remaining in his term, the calls for impeachment are centered less on removal from office before January 20th and more on the other conviction remedy — a permanent ban on serving in any federal office. Late impeachment is not a novel concept and has a long history dating back to the English law.

Nonprofits — including 501(c)(3)s — are able to take a stance on impeachment. See my articles Can a 501(c)(3) Advocate for Impeachment of a Federal Office Holder?  and  Taking a Stance on Articles of Impeachment and the Senate Trial for more.
