Sarah Cooke
Foundation Relations Manager
Sarah Cooke joined the Alliance for Justice in June 2023 as the Foundation Relations Manager. She helps steward AFJ’s foundation portfolio and provides administrative management for foundation relationships.
Prior to AFJ, she worked at Studio Theatre in Washington, D.C. for nearly six years, overseeing the organization’s foundation and government portfolio. During her time at Studio, she grew institutional giving by nearly 20%; raised over $2MM in COVID-19 government grants for economic stability; and served on the equity, diversity, and inclusion committee. Outside of Studio, she did freelance food reporting for DCist, Eater DC, and Washington City Paper, and coordinated bake sales with Bold Fork Books to raise funds for the DC Abortion Fund.
Sarah has lived in Washington, D.C. for most of her life, and looks forward to when the city becomes a state. She has a B.A. in English Literature with honors in nonfiction writing from Brown University. In her free time, she enjoys cooking (and eating!), going to the library as much as possible, and all things baseball—especially the Atlanta Braves, her favorite team.
