Erin Butler
Regional State Courts Counsel
Erin is a Regional State Courts Counsel in the Midwest region, working to support coalitions and facilitate AFJ/AFJ Action’s work in state supreme court justice selection with a focus in Michigan and Wisconsin. She joined AFJ in the fall of 2022.
Erin began her career as an organizer advocating for expanded labor rights in Michigan. She spent time at the Michigan AFL-CIO and the Michigan Education Association, and has worked on state and local electoral, issue advocacy, and ballot initiative campaigns in Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin. During law school, she worked at Miller Cohen, PLC, a Detroit law firm representing employees in matters related to labor and employment law and workers’ compensation, and in the Payroll Fraud Enforcement Unit at the Michigan Department of Attorney General.
Erin graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Michigan State University and a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School, where she served as Symposium Director on the Journal of Law in Society, and was the recipient of the 27th Annual Bernard Gottfried Memorial Labor Law Symposium Scholarship Award.
