On August 14, 2025, President Trump nominated Rebecca Taibleson to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She was confirmed on October 27, 2025.

Biography
Rebecca Taibleson earned her J.D. from Yale Law, (2008 – 2010) after transferring from Stanford Law School after her first year. She also completed her undergrad at Yale University (2001 – 2005).
Legal Experience
Taibleson is currently Assistant U.S. Attorney/ Appellate Chief, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin (2016 – Present) and was Assistant to the Solicitor General, U.S. Department of Justice (2019 – 2022). Here other career experience includes:

- Active in The Federalist Society including serving as a panelist on “What Does Originalism Mean Today and What Is It Likely to Mean in the Future?” in 2024, as moderator for “The Judicial Confirmation Process” in 2020, and “The Judge Kavanaugh I Know” in 2018.
- Ms. Taibleson drafted an amicus curie on behalf of the United States in Torres v. Madrid in which the Court held that the police can effect a Fourth Amendment seizure by applying physical force to the body of a person with intent to restrain, even if the person does not submit (in this case by shooting the person).
- Ms. Taibleson testified in support of Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing (2018, 17:30). She also participated in a panel for the Heritage Foundation with former law clerks speaking about their experience clerking for Judge Kavanaugh (4:22 minute mark).
- Served on President Biden’s defense team in a case brought by the Brown County Taxpayers Association challenging the student loan forgiveness policy. (Brown County Taxpayers Association v. Joseph Biden)
- Defended the Department of Veterans Affairs against a retaliation claim brought by Nalini Bidani, a diabetic who “complained that her supervisor had harassed her for taking sick leave necessitated by her condition.” (Nalini Bidani v. Denis R. McDonough)
- Represented Department of Housing and Urban Development in a lawsuit brought by a former employee of the department for alleged discrimination based on disability, race, gender, and veteran status. (Jamesetta McFarland-Lawson v. Adrianne Todman)
- Defended the Department of Veterans Affairs in a lawsuit alleging discrimination, brought by a former nurse for the department. (Tina Schingeck v. Denis McDonough)
- Represented the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Tampa field office in an appeal brought by Israa Hassan who sought to challenge the denial of her noncitizen husband’s petition seeking permanent resident status. (Ali v. United States)
