On May 23, 2024, President Biden nominated Catherine Henry to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She would bring much needed public defender experience to the bench.
Henry graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Drew University in 1991 before earning her J.D. from the District of Columbia School of Law in 1995. With nearly 30 years of experience in the courtroom, Henry has dedicated her career to public defense.
After working as a staff attorney at the Feminist Majority Foundation in Arlington, Va. in 1995, she became a public defender in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas from 1996 to 2001. Since 2001, Henry has served as an assistant federal defender in the Federal Community Defender’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
