“Black women have been here all along and there long since have been Black women who were qualified to hold a seat on the Supreme Court,” said Rakim Brooks, president of the left-leaning Alliance for Justice. “They were denied that opportunity because of who we were as a country, not because of who they were as jurists or as Black women,” Mr. Brooks said in a press call last week.
