Oldham Confirmed While All Eyes on Kavanaugh

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 18, 2018 – Following today’s vote to confirm Andrew Oldham to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“While all eyes are on a highly controversial Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, the Trump Administration and Senate Republicans are working hard toward their goal of packing the lower federal courts with equally partisan, political choices like Andrew Oldham. Oldham and Kavanaugh are cut from the same cloth: they want to gut access to health care and reproductive rights, are hostile to the rights of workers and consumers, and are staunchly opposed to environmental protection. This is all part of the strategy to turn the federal judiciary into an instrument of the Trump agenda, and unfortunately the consequences could be felt for generations.”
