New Allegations Underscore Need for Full Investigation
WASHINGTON, D.C., September 26, 2018 – Following reports that another woman, Julie Swetnick, has come forward alleging sexual abuse committed by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:
“The latest reports of egregious sexual abuse by Brett Kavanaugh are sickening. Furthermore, it is unconscionable that as more and more people come forward with grave concerns about Kavanaugh’s behavior and character, the Republican response is not to slow down and call for a thorough investigation — but to try to speed up the Supreme Court nomination process even more. Clearly the White House and Senate Republicans have no interest in finding the truth, only in getting their nominee onto the bench as fast as possible before more damning allegations come out. It’s time to put an end to this travesty. Kavanaugh needs to withdraw now.”
