Law360: Senate Confirms O’Melveny Alum As DC District Judge

The U.S. Senate voted 51-50 on Tuesday to confirm District of Columbia Court of Appeals Judge Loren L. AliKhan to the D.C. District after she took much heat from Republicans during her confirmation hearing.
She has been on the city’s appeals court since last year and, before that, was D.C.’s solicitor general from 2018 to 2022. Previously, Judge AliKhan was the deputy solicitor general and worked at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in the U.S. Supreme Court and appellate practice group.
Judge AliKhan will be the first South Asian woman to serve on this court and the only active Asian American woman on it, according to the Alliance for Justice.
