Bush, Schiff Will “March in Lockstep” with Trump

Washington, D.C., July 13 – In response to today’s party-line votes in the Senate Judiciary Committee to advance the judicial nominations of John Bush and Damien Schiff, Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“The votes by Republican Senators to advance these nominees are pushing us closer to the brink of an extremely dangerous situation, in which our federal courts become nothing more than a rubber stamp for an out-of-control administration. Bush and Schiff will march in lockstep with Donald Trump as he recklessly undermines the rule of law as well as rights and critical legal protections for everyday Americans. The courts are our last defense against the excesses of an irresponsible executive branch, and with nominees such as these President Trump means to destroy the courts’ independence. We applaud those Senators who stood up against these nominations today and urge all Senators to oppose them when they come before the full Senate.”
