AFJ Joins Call For Accountability Of FBI Over Kavanaugh Allegations
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 16, 2021 – This week, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse renewed his call for accountability into the FBI’s admittedly narrow and constrained investigation into the sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Alliance for Justice shares Sen. Whitehouse’s ongoing concern and echoes his insistence that these questions finally be answered.
Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron issued the following statement:
“Somehow, the FBI investigated the sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh without speaking to either Kavanaugh himself nor Dr. Christine Blasey Ford or any of the other people with information about the accusations against him. It was almost as if the agency’s goal in the investigation was to obtain as little information as possible. We know the Trump White House limited the scope of the investigation to protect their nominee, but we don’t know what those constraints were, who ordered them, or what information they were trying to prevent from being included in the investigation. These questions have never been answered, and they need to be.”
