White House Ready To Advance Judicial Nominations In The New Year
WASHINGTON, D.C., December 21, 2022 – Today the White House announced six new judicial nominees it will send to the Senate at the start of the new Congress next month. These six district court nominees will accompany the renominations of those whose confirmations were not completed by the end of this session of the Senate. The new total of judicial nominees will be 150, 97 of whom have been confirmed.
Alliance for Justice Legal Director for Federal Courts Kimberly Humphrey issued the following statement:
“There is a lot of work ahead to fill every remaining judicial vacancy over the next two years, so we are glad to see the White House will waste no time getting started. With a 51–49 Senate, we look forward to judicial confirmations continuing to move quickly through committee and to the floor for final votes. The progress so far has been breathtaking, but we hope to see more nominees from diverse backgrounds and legal experiences being promoted to the federal bench. It’s going to be an exciting year.”
