Biden’s diverse nominees will have to be confirmed by a sharply divided Senate—Democrats have a narrow majority of only 50 votes, with Vice President Kamala Harris as tie breaker—leaving little room for disagreement if any nominees prove controversial or face strong Republican opposition. “They are going to have to fight for these,” Nan Aron, who leads the Alliance for Justice, told the New York Times about the Senate confirming Biden’s nominees. “These aren’t going to be slam dunks.
