WASHINGTON, D.C., October 7, 2019 – Today kicked off the Supreme Court’s newest term and Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s second year on the bench, following a year in which he proved his record of hostility to constitutional rights and freedoms. As the Court prepares to consider numerous high stakes cases impacting healthcare and the Affordable Care Act, LGBTQ rights, immigration, gun violence, abortion, and more, Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“In just one year, Justice Kavanaugh has already proven his willingness to rubber-stamp the Trump Administration’s attacks on our democracy and constitutional rights while ruling against our nation’s most vulnerable communities. We must not lose sight of how much damage he has already done and could still do, including his support for gerrymandering, banning transgender people from military service, and allowing restrictions on access to abortion to take effect. Kavanaugh attained his seat only through a sham confirmation process, and he continues to face numerous outstanding questions about his record and credible allegations of sexual assault. Members of Congress must scrutinize the FBI’s cursory investigation into credible allegations of sexual assault and obtain all documents that were improperly withheld from the American people when he was confirmed.”
