Washington, D.C., September 20, 2019 – Alliance for Justice today released a report on the record of Sarah Pitlyk, President Donald Trump’s nominee for a seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. AFJ President Nan Aron released the following statement:
“Trump has been clear from day one that he is seeking out judicial nominees who will overturn Roe v. Wade and erode our reproductive rights – and Sarah Pitlyk’s record makes her the perfect candidate to carry out his extreme agenda. Her opposition to reproductive health care goes far beyond wanting to roll back Roe – Pitlyk fought a law that would prevent landlords from evicting tenants and employers from firing their employees for using birth control or becoming pregnant before marriage; argued that frozen embryos are human beings; defended the Trump Administration’s Title X gag rule; and has opposed assisted reproductive technologies like in vitro fertilization and surrogacy. Pitlyk was clearly chosen with the assumption that, if confirmed, she would continue pushing her dangerous anti-reproductive rights agenda. Alliance for Justice strongly opposes her confirmation to the federal bench.”
