Kavanaugh Assault Allegation Highlights Fundamental Flaws

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 14, 2018 – Following today’s reports of a sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“This very serious charge highlights a fundamental problem with the Brett Kavanaugh nomination: it is being rushed through for political reasons and in the absence of thorough vetting or a full set of records for this nominee. To make matters worse, all the new information that came out during his hearing, and that continues to surface, is information that points to a lack of integrity and character. These new allegations should be investigated. Meanwhile, we’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: no Senator can credibly claim to support the rights of women and vote for this nominee.”
