Gorsuch Trump Hotel Speech Raises More Questions of Independence

Washington, D.C., September 28, 2017 -Following Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch’s decision to go ahead with a speech to a private group at the Trump International Hotel today, Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron released the following statement:”It’s very disappointing to see Justice Gorsuch decide to go ahead with a speech at the Trump International Hotel. The hotel epitomizes the conflicts of interest, self-enrichment and ethical shakiness that are the hallmarks of the Trump Administration. Gorsuch is speaking there just days after making a campaign-style appearance with Mitch McConnell, another questionable decision on his part. As the Supreme Court prepares to usher in a new term, Gorsuch’s actions raise questions about his ability to rise above partisanship and remain independent.”
