AFJ Celebrates Confirmation of Judge Nancy Maldonado

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 8, 2024 – Today the Senate voted to confirm Judge Nancy Maldonado to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. President Biden had previously nominated her for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, where she has served with distinction since 2022.

In addition to her experience on the bench, Maldonado brings impressive experience in labor and employment law. Having already made history as the first Latina judge in the state of Illinois, she now again makes history as the first Latinx judge to serve on the Seventh Circuit.

It is encouraging to see the Senate prioritizing judicial confirmations, particularly for outstanding nominees to our circuit courts. We hope to soon see votes on Mustafa Kasubhai, Amir Ali, Adeel Mangi, and the dozens of other pending nominees.”
