WASHINGTON, D.C., September 12, 2018 – With Constitution Day approaching on September 17, Alliance for Justice is excited to announce the launch of a Constitution Day-themed campaign featuring actor and AFJ Board member Bradley Whitford. The video and digital campaign focuses on threats to the Constitution under the Trump Administration, including the role Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh could play in subverting the Constitution to serve the Trump agenda.

“We’re thrilled to have Brad Whitford lending his talent to this important project,” said AFJ President Nan Aron. “Brad isn’t just a great actor and performer, he’s also a social justice activist and someone who cares deeply about our democracy. Constitution Day is the perfect time to spread the word about threats to our democracy and our justice system from this administration and its efforts to pack the courts with political partisans.”

“It’s great to have an opportunity to talk about the Constitution and how important it is,” said Whitford, “especially now, when it’s more important than ever for all of us to stand up for our constitutional rights. I’m very concerned about the impact of this administration and its judicial appointments, which will affect our rights for decades after this president has left the scene. I hope this video helps motivate people to speak out.”

The campaign features a 74-second video in which Whitford tells viewers that “our Constitution is under attack.”

“Donald Trump doesn’t respect the Constitution, the rule of law, or democracy,” Whitford says in the video. He adds that Kavanaugh “will provide another blow to our Constitution and its values. He and Trump both believe that Trump is above the law. This Constitution Day is a reminder that no one is above the law.”

The video ends with Whitford urging viewers to speak up on behalf of our “powerful, challenging, beautiful” Constitution on Constitution Day, stop the abuses perpetrated by the administration, and stop Kavanaugh from getting a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court.
